This week, one of the shorter prayers I know. I learned it as a child. I don't think I knew it was a prayer until much later.
This was brought to my mind a few years ago when they put up a statue of St. Anthony of Padua in a niche along the back of the main area in our church. I walk along that wall all the time. Once I figured out who it was, I began saying this little prayer each time I pass it.
The prayer my mother taught me was "Tony, Tony, turn around; something's lost and must be found." She said that whenever she had trouble finding something. I had no idea at that time that Tony was St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost items.
Of course, that little phrase is not exactly what I say these days. Here is my prayer and it could be yours.
"Tony, Tony, turn around, I am lost and must be found. Help me find my way."
Grandma had all of us kids saying this prayer. It definitely works for lost items!
