MONEY IS SPORTS

My good friends at Sportico put out this information.  I thought I'd pass it on in case you haven't seen it. This is what the 12 schools received for being in the NCAA Football Playoffs.  Just for their participation!  Additional monies went to conferences and to each school for expenses for each game played (typically, $3M per game).

The payouts go to the conference if there is one.  They received $4M for a team making the top 12; $4M for a team making the second round, $6M for a team making the third round and $6M for a team making the finals.  Winning the finals gets you nothing extra.

The amounts differ because of individual conference sharing agreements.  It may explain some things - not all sharing agreements are equal.
