FISH

FISH

There was an interesting study by a team of economists and ecologists published in last week's issue of the journal Science. The stern warning came that by the year 2048 the oceans of the world would be 'fished out'. Between over-fishing and pollution, we have already lost 29% of seafood species - this means the catch is reduced by 90%. If nothing changes, all will be gone in four decades.

We really need to take these warnings seriously. Sell your stock in Long John Silvers, now. I don't think it will effect Mrs. Paul. I doubt there is any fish in her fish sticks, anyway.

The one thing that is really funny about the report is that it was presented by the leader of the group, a professor Boris Worm from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Tell me, could anyone with the name of Worm be trusted to give an honest evaluation of a species that feeds on worms?
