LEARNING

There is a new teaching method being tried in some parts of the country.  It is based on the work of Salman Khan, an MIT graduate.  You can visit the website www.khanacademy.org to learn about it and try it.  They have now collected over 3000 mini-lessons on a wide range of subjects.  It is all totally free, being funded by donations.  You or your student may benefit from these lessons.   Try it!

His idea of teaching is that lessons can be experienced on the Internet away from school or away from the usual classroom setting and that the practice of those lessons or what we used to call homework would be done in the classroom.  The teacher's sole purpose then is to help the students master their 'homework'.  The lessons are in 'youtube' format.  Every student works at his/her own pace.

I really think this is the direction education will take in the future.  Be careful on that website, you might learn something.
