On this date in 1992, not very long ago, IBM introduced at a technology trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada the world's first smart phone . When it was first marketed to the public in late 1994, they called it Simon.
The IBM Simon weighed 18 oz and my iPhone 5C weighs 4.7 oz. Simon had 1 MB of memory and 1 MB of storage. My iPhone has 1 GB of memory (1,000 times as much) and 16 GB of storage (16,000 times as much).
Absolutely amazing to me. Ho hum to my grandchildren.
