WHEN I WAS A KID

When I was a kid, I would make the trek to downtown Cincinnati with my mother and grandmother to buy my school clothes.  When I was still pretty young, I was built so that my mother had trouble buying slacks for me.  I'll never forget it.  We were at Shillito's downtown store - in the basement.  The sales lady looked at me, took a few measurements and said to my mother, "Try on the pants marked "husky."  Ouch!  I hated that.  How demeaning!  Husky!  I knew what that meant:  "Pudgy!"  One step from "Fat!"  Say it isn't so. :(

I don't know if they still have that designation but I hope not.
