Happy Birthday, Jack! If nothing else, this must be the warmest birthday you have ever had.
You share this birth date with George Halas. He is just 100 years older than you.
The late Mr. Halas was a pioneer of professional football in the United States and is considered a co-founder of the NFL. He was the founder, owner, first coach and player for the Chicago Bears. He coached the Bears into his seventies and was affectionately known as "Papa Bear". Last week, the Carolina Panthers were awarded the George Halas trophy as champions of the National Conference of the NFL.
In his younger days, he played professional Major League baseball for the New York Yankees. Mr. Halas served in the U.S. Navy during World Wars I and II and reached the rank of Captain. He was quite a man.
