I have a list; do you have one? I keep mine on my phone; it's very convenient. The list is for people for whom I pray - should pray - have promised to pray.
I believe in the value and power of prayer. I trust it's good for those for whom I pray - I know it's good for me. Checking my list often, keeps friends in my mind. When they die, I don't eliminate them from the list - only God knows if they still need our prayers; I'm not taking the chance they do. If you don't have a list, think about starting one. If you do - include me if you will.
Lord, today I pray for the sick and the injured, the lonely and the needy, those recovering and those failing, and those who have already died. I pray for those caring for them, for those mourning them and for those ignoring them. Lift me up, today. Give me the backbone to do what must be done. Help me find the sympathy and empathy they all deserve. I make this prayer through the intercession of Mary, the mother of Jesus, who had to watch her son be brutally murdered for our sake. Amen.
