Seems like people in this area are getting very excited about the Reds. They are 3 games out of first place in their division behind the Cards who just lost their best player to injury.

I hate to throw a wet blanket on a party but on this date in 2004 and on this date in 2002, the Reds were in first place in their division. Neither year did they finish with a better than .500 record.

Its fun but its way too early to get excited.
