CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds sure are resilient. After getting pounded by the Cards last Monday, the Reds bounce back, win the next two and split the series. After losing a heart breaker to the Phillies on Friday, the Reds bounce back and win the next two.

Ryan Freel is so exciting. He made an awesome catch in right field and a heads-up base-running move to spark a rally on Tuesday. He picks a runner off first from right field and ends up playing a brilliant third base late in a ballgame against the Phils. Edwin Encarnacion has settled into the clean-up spot in the batting order. Hatteberg and Ross are just solid hitters. Brandon Phillips is always dangerous. Dunn even gets a hit once in a while. As I said last week, we need Griffey to get untracked. The relief pitchers would make me lose my hair if I had any.

The Bengals played their first preseason game last night. You really can't tell too much by preseason games. No one got hurt. That's the best news. They looked very fast compared to the Redskins. As expected, the defensive line is a big question mark. Carson Palmer isn't ready and Marvin seems ready to push him this week. This could be interesting. Oh yeah, one more thing. The criminal element performed very well with no repercussions from the local fans. As Collinsworth said, its a good day for the Bengals when nobody gets arrested.

We even had open wheel racing at the speedway. Ohioan Sam Hornish Jr won easily. The ladies were racy but not good enough.

Highlight of the weekend: Commercial where guys are sitting around making their picks for their fantacy football league and the guy who wants T.J. Houshmandzadeh can't pronounce his name. At one point he calls him T.J.Whoseyourmama.
