DOG DAYS
We're into the DOG DAYS of summer. Most people associate the dog days with this very hot and humid period of the year. Actually, the Dog Days refers to the time when the star Sirius (the Dog Star) is invisible to us in the Northern hemisphere. Sirius is the brightest of all the stars in the sky from Earth but it is in our view only in the daytime in August and early September and therefore cannot be seen.
