SCHOOL

SCHOOL

In our area, the kids are starting back to school this week. My grandkids in Florida have already been at it for two weeks. When I grew up, we started every school year on the day after labor day. I think we got away from that around here when we had the bad snow years in the mid-1970's. So many school days were lost during the winter that days had to be added at the end of the year to meet state minimum requirements. Now they start earlier and have scheduled off days in the spring that they can use if needed. Its all about teachers, administrators and parents making plans for vacations and work at the end of the school year. It makes sense.
