WHEN I WAS A KID
When I was a kid, they had electric street cars in Cincinnati. They had two electric cables suspended above the street for their whole route. Long poles on springs extended from the cars up to the overhead cables to make the electrical connection. I think the original ones ran on rails so they wouldn't get too far away from the cables. The later ones were on rubber tires. The streets were bumpy for cars from all the rails especially where streets converged.
I rode the street cars from near our house in Norwood with my grandfather down to Knowltons Corner in Northside. We had to transfer there to get a different trolley to take us to Crosley Field where the Reds played.
