CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

Aaron Cook was the opening day starting pitcher for the Colorado Rockies. He is a graduate of Hamilton High School. He had a rough day against the Diamondbacks giving up five runs in six innings but left the game with the lead.

ESPN announced that the first Monday night football game of the regular season would be the Ravens at the Bengals. Wont that be exciting?

The Reds started the season off on a grand note. As 5-1 winners over the Cubs, they could be on their way to a perfect or another wire-to-wire season. Harang pitched his ass off and Dunn hit two homers. Josh Hamilton got the biggest ovation of the day. Peter Edward Rose made a splash around the old ball park and was even interviewed during the broadcast by Marty and Joe and Thom. I didn't think he was allowed to do that. All is well in the Queen City. The Reds split the next two with the Cubs. Scott Hatteberg homered for the margin on Thursday afternoon.

Bob Huggins left Kansas State as quickly as he got there. He'll be at West Virginia, now. Its his Alma Mater and it gives him a chance to visit Cincinnati once a year to see his friend Nancy. Kansas State was set to have one of the best squads in the country. Wow!

Cincinnatian Brett Wetterich led the Masters after the first day. Quite a thrill for a rookie.

Chris Henry met with the commissioner of the NFL and now awaits his decision on further punishment for his misdemeanors.

Cincinnatian Brett Wetterich led the Master after the second day. No rookie could ever win the Masters.

The Reds beat the Pirates on a freezing and snowy Friday night in the 'nati to go to 3-1. Brandon Phillips and Jeff Conine homered and Matt Belisle pitched beautifully for the win.

Cincinnatian Brett Wetterich woke up Saturday morning and realized he was leading the Masters and fell apart.

The Reds and Aaron Harang beat the Pirates on Saturday afternoon and then let them have one on Sunday and fell to 4-2 on the year after the first week. Not bad! The pitching has been very good.
