RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SOFTBALL
Friday night we played our fourth game and had a 1-2 record going into the contest. We played a team that was 3-0. We had just about everyone at the game for a change and took them to the woodshed by a 21-1 score in only four innings. I was 3 for 3, including a triple, in the short game. The game was significant because coach Trice wrote me into the starting line-up at pitcher against my wishes and I refused to go on the field. It was the first game I didn't start at pitcher in about 30 years. I've had enough of standing 45 feet away from guys hitting 120 miles per hour shots at my body. At my age, I deserve the break.
