HONEY BEES

The Apiary Inspectors of America report that the disappearance of honey bees continues at an alarming rate in at least 35 States. Many places around the world are experiencing similar problems. The problem has been called "Colony Collapse Disorder" though the exact cause is unknown. If the current trend is not thwarted, it could be catastrophic.

Honey bees not only produce honey and pollinate flowers but are critical to the pollination of some of the world's food supplies. Almonds, apples, berries and soy beans are now in jeopardy.

The world population of honey bees varies from year to year and maybe they will make a strong comeback. Maybe they will become resistant to whatever is killing them. Let's hope. Billions of dollars worth of food products are at stake. Be nice to bees.
