RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

HEAT

Well, we topped 100 degrees a few times this week. The Cincinnati public schools shut down on Thursday and Friday. Many other schools in the city were on early closing schedules. Of course, the problem is that they don't have air conditioning.

Give me a break! What are we doing here? If these school days were not important, why did we schedule them? Now we've told the students that they weren't important enough to get in a sweat over. Wonderful! I hope none of these students get a job on a paving crew, in a foundry or join the military. No wonder attendance is so poor throughout the year. No wonder kids don't play sandlot baseball any more.

Those who do play sports are probably laughing about the whole thing. The guys who just went through two-a-days on the school football field must think its hilarious that the student body can't sit in a class room when its hot out. How could you ever learn anything when you are so hot? The wimping of America continues.
