MARTIN COOPER

In the future, when history books list the most famous inventors in the world, next to Edison, Bell, Marconi and Fulton, they will include Martin Cooper. Dr. Cooper is the CEO and founder of ARRAYCOMM. He is credited with the invention of the cell phone. My youngest grandchildren, who are unaware of a world without cell phones, will have to memorize his name when they get into school.

Inspired by Captain Kirk's two-way communicator on Star Trek, he put together the first cell phone while working as the head of research and development for Motorola in 1973. He also has a sense of humor. He made the first cell phone call to his competitor, the head of research at Bell Labs.
