WHAT ARE THE ODDS

What are the odds there would be two quarterbacks in division 1 college football with the first name of Colt? I was fascinated with Colt McCoy of the University of Texas last year. I thought his name was perfect for a quarterback. It sounded like a gunslinger. Colt had to follow Vince Young as the quarterback of the National Champions. He did a pretty good job for a freshman.

I never paid too much attention to Colt Brennan of the University of Hawaii. Of course, everything he did happened after I went to bed. Well, what he did was break all kinds of records. He is a senior and a viable Heisman Trophy candidate. Too bad all his games are played so late at night. Brennan had the following stats in his team's opener this week against Northern Colorado: 34 completions in 40 attempts, 416 yards passing, 6 touchdown passes. The kicker... he didn't step on the field in the second half.

John David Booty is a pretty cool name for a quarterback but it can't hold a candle to someone named Colt. That's a name whose time has come.
