The longest confirmed human lifespan in the United States was 122 years 164 days. Jeanne Calment was born in 1875 and died in 1997. She never worked a day in her life (outside of the home) and quit smoking when she was 117. I suppose she never would have lived so long if she hadn't quit smoking.
