FORD

The Ford Motor Company was established in 1903. During the first five years of the company's existence, it produced cars known as the Model A on down to the Model S. Not every letter was used for a production model - some were just prototypes. In 1908, it started making the Model T. It was such a success that Ford continued to make the Model T for 19 years. It was on this date in 1928, that Ford introduced the new Model A. For 19 straight years, it made the same model car only. I guess Henry figured that if you have a good thing going, don't mess with it. He went back to the Model A because his new car was so different it was like starting over. Its competitor, the Chrysler Corporation introduced the first Plymouth model later this same year and called it the Model U. Ford's Model T was named the most influential car of the Twentieth Century.
