CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds played three each against the Cubs and the Mets this week. They won 2 of 3 against Sweet Lou's Chicago crew and 1 of 3 against New York. Going 3 and 3 is an improvement but it wont get you anywhere. They are still in last place in their division and 15 and 23 overall. On the bright side, Bronson Arroyo had a good outing in the Saturday night win at Shea Stadium. Next week they play the Florida Marlins (4) and the Cleveland Indians at GABP.

All of the Bengals managed to stay out of jail this week. No one was even in court. They all come to town next week for the upcoming voluntary mini-camp. Mothers, 'keep your children in the house.' Best recent news: Chris Perry looks like he's able to play. I'm convinced that Perry was the key to the great offense the Bengals displayed in their 2005 playoff season.

The NCAA announced that 53 member schools face penalties because of poor academic progress rates. No local school is on the list. UC has turned the corner.
1990 Reds world series first baseman, Todd Benzinger, will be the new Lakota East girls basketball coach next year. Steve Ellis has been named the boys basketball coach at Mariemont High School.
