KOSHER
Did you know that the glue on Israeli postage stamps is certified as kosher? And just what does that mean? Kosher in English means 'fit to eat' according to Jewish dietary laws. Jewish dietary laws have their root in the Torah (part of the Old Testament), the Talmud and Mishnah oral history. The basis for these laws is mostly hygienic and practical but also is based on ritualistic tradition. Most laws have to do with meat and how the animal is killed, stored and prepared. Some animals and seafood cannot be kosher.
