RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

9/18/2008

2002

Six years ago on this date I signed up for a blog to see what it was like. I wrote something off and on for a year or so and then I totally forgot about it for about a year. I can't remember what got me going again but I think it was when I was given a computer for my birthday. It was still years before I told anyone that it existed. Now I have four or five regular readers - maybe.

No one has ever asked but I'm going to tell you anyway. The title for the blog comes from a song that I love in the great American opera, Porgy and Bess. The song is It Ain't Necessarily So. The song and one of its verses goes something like this:

Don't believe all your liable
to read in the bible
it ain't necessarily so

Methuselah lived nine hundred years
Methuselah lived nine hundred years
but who calls that livin'
when no women be givin'
to a man what was nine hundred years

I guess I was feeling old at the time.

The tag line "Random Musings from the Top of the Hill" counterbalances that theme suggesting that I am not "over the hill" quite yet, just at the top about to go over.

I thought you ought to know.
