CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Bengals got the surprising week off to a mild surprise with the signing of running back Cedric Benson. Benson was cut by the Chicago Bears because of two run-ins with the law. Charges were subsequently dropped and where else would you expect him to end up than in rehabnati.

The UC Bearcats took on Marshall University Friday night on national TV with a redshirt freshman, who had never never been in a collegiate game, at the helm. Chazz Anderson helped the Cats overpower the outclassed Thundering Herd 33-10 in UC's best performance of the year.

In high school football on Friday night, up was down and down was up. Colerain was beaten by Middletown, St. Xavier was beaten by LaSalle, Moeller was beaten by Elder, Hamilton was beaten by Princeton, Fenwick was beaten by McNicholas, Mariemont was beaten by Reading, and, to top it all off, Wilmington beat Amelia. (Not all of those were upsets, but most were.)

The Bengals played in Irving, Texas late Sunday afternoon. Chad was threatening to kiss the star in midfield after a touchdown catch. Luckily for him, he didn't have to back up that threat. His buddies played well enough to beat the 'boys' on this day but they didn't, going down 31-22. There is something missing from this 0-5 team. Its not just players.
