RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

SIGNIFICANT

On this date in 1954, a significant yet little noted thing happened that stood to change my life and that of many others, as well. President Dwight David Eisenhower pledged the United States to support South Vietnam. Of course, his successor, John Fitzgerald Kennedy upped the ante six years later by sending over CIA operatives and support troops to 'advise' South Vietnam in its struggle with the North. The course was thus set for Lyndon Baines Johnson to begin the shuttling of millions of American boys across the Pacific.
