CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

On Monday night the, UC basketball team traveled to number 25 Memphis for their annual tilt. The Bearcats played solid defense but couldn't hold up to the Tigers pressure defense and lost 60-45.

On Wednesday, XU entertained Robert Morris University at the Cintas Center and handled them rather easily, 78-57. The Muskies snapped back from two straight losses behind Jason Love who had a career high 15 points.

On New Years Day, the UC football team did what was once unthinkable. It played in BCS bowl game, the Orange Bowl. They went out and did something else that was unthinkable - they gave us a poor performance. It happens. They lost 20-7.

On Saturday, the Musketeers were in Virginia to play the UVA Cavaliers. This foray against the ACC went a little better than the last one. Xavier coasted to a 84-70 win with freshman Kenny Freise having his best game as a collegian.

On Sunday, the Bearcats were in Milwaukee at the Bradley Center to play the Marquette Golden Eagles and to open their Big East season. It was as big a flop as you could imagine. After the first five minutes, the Cats were never in the game and lost 84-50. Deonta Vaughn, the Bearcats top scorer, had no points for the game - 'nough said.
