CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

On Wednesday night, UC broke into the win column in the Big East by downing Rutgers 71-59. They had trailed in the first half by 15 points when they went thru an unbelievable cold shooting spell. They missed some 17 shots in a row at one point and never put a point on the board for about 12 minutes.

Xavier was in the smallest state on Thursday for an A-10 tilt with the Rams. This is the second game in a row that they are playing someone known as the Rams...first Fordham and now Rhode Island...same result...Muskies win 87-59.

UC played DePaul in Chicago on Saturday and had a roller coaster game. They started off slowly again and then Deonta Vaughn went on a 3-point scoring binge. He made five in the first fifteen minutes and the Cats led by 11 at the half. They still led by 15 with five minutes to go and then needed Vaughn's two free throws with seconds to go to seal a 59-55 victory. Vaughn had 16 points in the first half and only those two free throws the rest of the game. A Big East road win - Wow!

At high noon on Sunday, the Muskies had the LaSalle Lancers into town for a A-10 showdown. It wasn't much of a show. Xavier built an early lead up to 20 points and maintained it throughout for a 73-53 win. B.J. Raymond had 16 points for the locals who are now 15-2 and 4-0 in the conferance.
