THE COMMON COLD

Loads of medical scientists and many medical institutions are still dedicated to finding a cure for the common cold. There was an announcement just last week that some progress has been made in that direction. For years now, we have known that what we call the common cold is caused by a rhinovirus. This rhinovirus is hard to pin down because it is always altering itself and there are about one hundred strains. Scientists have decoded the gnomes of all the strains of the virus. Whether any pharmaceutical company will spend the estimated $700 million required to bring a medicine to market is questionable.

Here is something that is very interesting that these scientists have known for some time. The typical human body has a temperature of 98.6 degrees F but the typical rhinovirus likes and lives best at about 93.4 degrees. YOUR MOTHER WAS RIGHT! Bundle up...keep warm...wear your hat, scarf and mittens...you will be much less likely to catch the common cold.
