CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

March madness is upon us! Of course, its mad how many college basketball teams get in some kind of tournament. Of course, its mad how quickly we are approaching opening day of the baseball season. Of course, its mad how pro football is so geeked up for their big day to select college players. Of course, its mad how pro basketball is not even close to the end of their season. Of course, its mad how pro golf is so dependent on one player. Enough of madness.

The Bearcats played DePaul in the opening game of the Big East Championship tournament. DePaul had not won a game in 2009...they went through the whole conference season without a win...they beat UC. Something happened to this Cincinnati team after beating West Virginia two weeks ago. I don't know what...but it turned ugly. After leading by 14 in the first half, final score of final game: 67-57.

Xavier kicked off the A-10 tournament with a 66-47 win over St. Louis on Thursday afternoon. On Friday, they ran into a Temple team who was hot as could be. The Owls put down the Muskies 55-53. Things like that happen in league tournaments. XU still got a number 4 seed in the 'big dance'.
