CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds opened the week with a three-game series with the Astros at GABP. Cincinnati started Harang, Owings and Arroyo and that was enough. Votto, Nix, Bruce (2) and Hairston homered to lead the offense in the sweep of Houston. Bronson Arroyo threw a real gem...a complete game with less than 100 pitches. Brandon Phillips broke a finger and is on the mend.

Off to Milwaukee the Reds went full of confidence. They played good but not good enough and were swept. Joey Votto was put on the 15-day disabled list but Phillips came back. Volquez comes off of the DL today.

In high school baseball, Moeller, Badin and Reading are heading to 'State' in their respective divisions. The finals are played this coming weekend.
