The US Senate is now divided 60 Democrats to 40 Republicans. To shut down arguments according to the parliamentary procedures which are used in the Senate, a two-thirds majority is required. The Dems now have it.

Al Franken has been awarded the senate seat from Minnesota by the Courts. The outcome had been contested ever since the elections last November. This is not a Saturday Night Live joke. I must say, I think a little less of Minnesotans today.
