"I can't get no..." sang The Stones.
I went off on happiness and satisfaction yesterday... I'm not sure what brought that up. Once I started thinking about it, this question arose, "Are there any American women who are satisfied...with themselves?"
This is my observation. Every person has some things about themselves about which they are not satisfied. Some things you accept and others you do not. Some things you can change and others you cannot. I think women take this all a little too far.
If they don't like their height or the shape of their lower legs, they wear high heels. If they don't like their fingernails, they paint them or put on fake ones. If they don't like their hair color they dye it. If they don't like the size or shape of their breasts, they wear an enhancing bra. If they don't like the length of their eye lashes, they wear fake ones. If they don't like the color of their skin, they artificially tan or wear make-up. If they don't like their natural odor, they wear cologne. If they don't like the look of their lips, they color, gloss and shape them. If they don't like the shape of their eye brows, they pluck and change it. If they don't like their toe nails, they paint them. These are just what I consider the standard things women do everyday. Of course, many go to further extremes with plastic surgery and related procedures.
Women are so unsatisfied with their looks that ear piercings are standard fare. Some have one or two in each ear but many have more. It's no longer shocking to see a young lady with nose, lip, tongue or eyebrow piercings as well. Plain skin is evidently not thought attractive enough for many and thus tattoos are an everyday thing. Additional piercings and tattoos exist because women want to enhance their disrobed body. Why are American women so dissatisfied with themselves? Why do they think they have to make so many changes?
Don't blame it only on men. I think they do it for each other as well.
