RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

DRESS

I stopped for a beer at Sorento's in Norwood the other day. They have loads of old sports tickets embedded in their bar. Its interesting to see the prices of good seats at Reds, Bengals, Musketeer and Bearcat games in decades past. Things sure change.

What crossed my mind when I saw an old Bengals ticket from the early 70's was how we used to dress for those games. I had easy access to tickets to Bengal games back then and I attended almost every one. I distinctly remember wearing a sport coat or blazer to games when the weather was nice. Almost everyone dressed up. How different it is today.

We dined at a downtown restaurant last week and I was way overdressed compared to many while wearing a golf shirt and slacks. Its common to see shorts on people at church in the Summer. Denim jeans are a standard for almost any occasion or location. The last bastion of the dress-up affair for many is the wedding reception. Even those have degenerated to some degree. It says something about our society; but I'm not sure what. In any case, I kind of miss getting all dressed up.
:D
