In a tragic real life love story, Joe DiMaggio, famous New York Yankees' baseball player, and actress Marilyn Monroe were married in 1954 and divorced in less than a year. On August 1, 1962 with the intent of asking her to remarry him, he quit his job. Four days later she was found dead. Joe had six red roses sent to her grave site three days a week for the next 20 years. DiMaggio, born in 1914, never remarried and lived until 1999.
