Well, gridiron widows, I hate to be the one to break this to you but there is another league of professional football about to start. The United Football League (UFL) kicks off play on October 8...that's right, a Thursday. Don't think that you're getting by with having games on the same days as the NFL...no way...this league is playing on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There are just four teams; the New York Sentinels, the Florida Tuskers, the Las Vegas Locomotives and the California Redwoods. (As you can see, there are now so many professional sports teams that good nicknames are hard to come by) They will play each of the other teams twice for a six game schedule followed by a championship game in Las Vegas on the day after Thanksgiving. I can't wait?
Direct TV has been in a fight with the VERSUS channel about pricing and it has been pulled from their line-up. The UFL has contracted for half of the games to be on Direct TV's HDNet and the other half on VERSUS. I expect some settlement will be reached in the next week.
:D
