RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

YESTERDAY

Today is the birthday of both John Lennon and his son, Sean. John wrote the beautiful ballad, "Yesterday". It was first released on The Beatles' album Help! and was not recorded as a single until years later. It has had more covers recorded of it than any other song. In 2000, it was named the #1 pop song of all time by MTV and Rolling Stone Magazine.

It does have a pretty melody but the words, when read aloud, lack any great meaning. All I can get out of it is that the idiot said something he shouldn't have said and now, if he had a chance to push time backwards, he would. I can relate to that because I say a lot of things I wish I wouldn't have said. (Imagine me singing this to you) Here are the lyrics.

Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away
Now it looks as though they're here to stay
Oh I believe in yesterday
Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be
There's a shadow hanging over me
Oh yesterday, came suddenly
Why she had to go?
I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh I believe, in yesterday
Why she had to go?
I don't know she wouldn't say
I said something wrong, now I long for yesterday
Yesterday, love was such an easy game to play
Now I need a place to hide away
Oh I believe, in yesterday
Hm hm hm hm hm hm hm
:D
