To begin the week, UC football is still #5 in the BCS rankings! The Bearcat basketball team is unranked.
On Monday, UC beat 24th ranked Vanderbilt of the SEC in the first round of the Maui Invitational. UC can play some defense. Yancey Gates had 16 in the 67-58 win.
On Tuesday, UC beat 21st ranked Maryland of the ACC in the second round of the Maui Invitational. UC has really good athletes. Yancey Gates had 17 points in the 69-57 win.
On Wednesday, UC played well against Gonzaga in the Maui finals but lost in overtime, 61-59. The Bearcats took the lead at 12-9 and were never headed until the overtime period. They lost their legs with about 5 minutes to go in the game.
On Thanksgiving Day, Xavier fell behind Marquette and couldn't catch up. Nothing went well for the Muskies in the first round of the Old Spice Classic as they fell 71-61.
On Friday, Jordan Crawford had 22 for Xavier as they beat Creighton 80-67 in the Old Spice Classic.
The UC Bearcats hosted Illinois of the Big Ten after a week off. Cincinnati outgunned the Illini 49-36 with Tony Pike back at the helm. Their defense is too weak to beat the 'big boys'.
On Sunday, Xavier met Baylor University to wrap up the Old Spice Classic and got beaten 69-64. Jamel McClean had 17 and Jordan Crawford 16 for the Muskies.
The Bengals got into fight with the Browns at PBS and won 16-7. Cincinnati has settled into a boring style of offense evidently out of necessity - they can not protect the passer very well. They look like the Baltimore Ravens of a few years ago.
