On Wednesday, UC was in Birmingham for a bout with UAB. They got absolutely pummeled 64-47. No need to worry about rankings for a while.
UC hired Butch Jones of Central Michigan to coach their football team next year. He rehired Cary Combs to take care of the defensive backs. The rest of the staff might go to South Bend after the Sugar Bowl.
Austin Collinsworth committed to Notre Dame. He'll probably play slot receiver for Brian Kelly.
Chris Henry fell/jumped/was pushed off a moving pick-up truck and lost his life - RIP.
On Saturday, Xavier met No. 21 Butler in Indianapolis in a knock-down drag-out affair that ended in a wild 69-68 loss. There are never fouls called in the last seconds of a close game and every second counts.
At the same time, Cincinnati was playing something called Lipscomb. The Bisons are in the Atlantic Sun Conference. They've played Ohio State and Vanderbilt this year and now UC. The 80-52 whipping they got was the worst so far. Why?
The Bengals were in San Diego on Sunday and played one of their best games of the year. Sadly, it wasn't good enough to beat the Chargers - - Cincinnati lost 27-24 in the last minute. They had to take the field goal too many times.
