BATS

I wrote back on July 17, 2007 about the plight of the honeybee and the profound effect they have on our food supply. Massive efforts have been underway to thwart this population decline.

There is another problem out there for which we need to figure out a solution. White nose syndrome in bats. Bats are very important in keeping down the population of flying insects (about 70% are insectivores) and they take part in pollination of flowers and food plants (about 30% are fruit eaters).

White nose syndrome got its name from the white fungus found on the snout and wings of some dead bats. Millions have already died. Be nice to bats. Bats are our friends.
:o)
