CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds started the week in first place with a three game series against Philadelphia at GABP. They took the Phillies two out of three including one over their ace, Halladay. The batting averages continue to climb. Votto, Phillips, Rolen, Gomes and Bruce are on a roll.

The Bengals splashed back in the news with the revelation that Cedric Benson had been charged with misdemeanor assault after and altercation in a Texas night spot. What did you expect?

The Reds rolled into Chicago for four games with the Cubs. They were feeling good and in first place in the division. They pulled out a close one on Thursday, had a laugher on Friday, lost a close game on Saturday and won real big on Sunday behind Drew Stubbs three home runs.. They finished the week 1-1/2 games ahead of the Cards.

Brandon Phillips and Scott Roland were named to the NL All-Star team as was relief pitcher Arthur Rhodes. Joey Votto was snubbed but has a second chance with the fan vote.

Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis is in the Iraq-Afghan war zone this week with three other NFL head coaches to boost the spirits of troops.
