CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds started the weekend with a three-game series against the Washington Nationals at GABP. Cueto pitched a beauty on Monday and Gomes homered as did Cairo subbing for the injured Scot Rolen. They won again on Tuesday but lost on Wednesday against phenom Stephen Strasburg and played poorly on Thursday to split the four game series.

Off to Texas the Reds went for three games on the weekend with the Astros. On Friday and Saturday they handled things beautifully. Travis Wood did an OK job on Thursday and Johnny Cueto was untouchable on Saturday. Joey Votto hit a home run each game. On Sunday, hardluck Chris Leake got no support again in a 4-0 loss. Cincinnati finished the week still within a half game of St. Louis in the two-team division race.
