CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

The Reds had the biggest series of the decade at GAPB this week. It started with a full house against the Cards on Monday and ended in the toilet on Wednesday afternoon. St. Louis out-pitched, out-hit and generally outplayed Cincinnati to go from two-games-down to one-up in the division. The highlight of the series was a first inning melee that resulted in suspensions and fines for players and coaches from both teams.

On Friday, the Reds opened a weekend series with the Marlins. Florida opened with Josh Johnson, the top pitcher in the league and the Reds jumped on him early and often for a satisfying 7-2 win. Saturday and Sunday the Reds looked every bit the better team and finished the week with a sweep of their own. Since Chicago beat the Cards two out of three, the Reds are back in first place by a game.

The Bengals hosted the Denver Broncos on Sunday night in a preseason game at PBS. Winning and losing doesn't matter. Just hope that no one gets hurt.

The Bengals were saddened with the news that Ickey Woods' son Javon had died this morning. He suffered an asthma attack at preseason Princeton High School football practice.
