ACHILLES

Achilles was a warrior in Greek mythology. He was the most handsome and greatest warrior of his time. He led the Greeks to many victories in the Trojan Wars. He died when a poison arrow struck him in the heel. It was thought that this was the only vulnerable spot on his body. We commonly call someone's vulnerable point, his achilles heal.

It was after this hero that we named the tendon attaching the heel bone to the muscles of the lower leg. This tendon is critical to us in running and jumping. It is this tendon that is bugging the HELL OUT OF ME. How ironic...my achilles heal is my achilles heal.

:o)
