Xavier edged highly touted Butler on Thursday night in Cintas Center 51-49. Like every other Xavier win, the outcome was in doubt until the final seconds. As is the case in most close games, free throw shooting spelled the difference. It was a great win for the Musketeers now 6-2. The Bulldogs dropped to 4-4 on the season.
The Reds signed Jay Bruce to a long term contract this week. It is reportedly 51 million for six years. Good move!
Mariemont lost to league rival Finneytown on Friday night and Fenwick got lanced by LaSalle, the #1 team in Cincinnati.
The Bearcats met another "whose he" on Saturday night at 5th/3rd arena. It didn't take much to extend their record to 8-0. They broke out into a 20-point lead and maintained it throughout with the final score being 92-72. Not much to be gained here. The shooting was good but 72 is a lot of points to give up to a nobody.
The Bungals were in Pittsburgh to play in the rain and snow with the Steelers. The story hasn't changed. They lost for the 10th straight time while giving up two touchdowns to the Steeler defense. The final was 23-7. They should be embarrassed-but I don't think they are.
