RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

CINCINNATI SPORTS LAST WEEK

On Tuesday, the Bearcats played another "who's he" in Georgia Southern. Again, they treated another nobody with disdain. The final was 99-54. For what? They now are a weak 9-0.

On Saturday evening, Xavier played Wake Forest in what is called the Skip Prosser Classic. The late Prosser coached at both schools. The Muskies won 83-75 at Cintas Center and Tu Holloway registered a triple double (14-10-14). XU is now 7-2.

Later that night, Cincinnati was in Oklahoma City to play the Sooners in the All-College Basketball Classic. The Bearcats won 66-56. It was not their best game but they finally beat a decent team. Much more challenging games are ahead. UC is now 10-0.

On Sunday, the Bengals and Browns squared off in PBS before a less-than-sell-out crowd for the first time in 31 years. Cincinnati reverted to relying on the run and got some big, fortunate pass plays out of it and won the game 19-17. Ho-Hum. It was the Bengals first win since ... I can't remember their last win.
