LOOKING

Do you like to look forward or look backward? If you're driving a car, I hope you said forward or at least, some of each. It's seems obvious to me that looking forward is so much more important than looking backward. Of course, what has happened in the past is a lesson for the future. But, I think we spend all too much time looking backward - especially in our schools. Every kid takes history courses one after the other. When are they going to create a futures course? I don't think you would need a seer to teach it. Just a course in which a teacher could help students relate past, current and future events to one another. Just a course for kids to dream. With dreams comes hope. Just a course to develop vision. Without a clear vision of where you are going, it is difficult to plot a course in the right direction to get there. This country needs visionaries...be one.
