SKIN

I went to the dermatologist this week...first time in about three years. Sadly, he confirmed that my skin is as old as the rest of me. I went through a full body scan...no big problems. Just the usual sun damaged spots...little patches of dry skin. "Precancerous AK's (actinic keratosis)" he calls them. "If we don't treat them, they could turn into squamous cells...then they'll have to be cut out." Yikes! "Ok! Ok! Zap me, Doc." He pulled out his trusty nitrogen gun and froze the spots he didn't like. He gave me eight stings to the head (face, scalp, ears) and a half dozen more on my arms and the backs of my hands. I held back the tears. Now, I look like a leper walking around with open sores. I scare little kids on the street. I didn't go to my usual lunch spots this week...I didn't want to shock people who know me. If you pass a sad old man on the street this week with open sores on his face, be kind...its probably not catching.
