STRESS

Everyone should think about and be aware of stress.  It comes into play in our lives more than most people realize.  In small doses, it is not harmful and in some ways is very useful.  To build strong muscles, body builders put their muscles under stress.  The body reacts to this stress and grows larger muscles.  Too much stress and you just have sore muscles or worse.

Your immune system is really a stress handler.  Germs, allergens, viral and bacterial pathogens and the like put your body under stress.  If your body is not too busy doing something else, it can handle most of these attackers.  Most sicknesses can be avoided.  What other things might your body be busy doing?  Lack of sleep or rest will put your body under stress.  Extreme heat and extreme cold will put your body under stress. Starvation and overeating put your body under stress.  Infections put your body under stress.  Worry puts your body under stress.

Take care of your body and it will take care of you.  If you find yourself getting sick more often than others your age, figure out what other stresses you are inflicting on your body and do something about them.  Don't make yourself sick.  Life is so much more fun when you're healthy!  In the famous words of Bobby McFerrin:  "Don't worry, be happy."
