RANDOM MUSINGS FROM THE TOP OF THE HILL

HEALTHCARE

While getting a physical the other day, I could only think how primitive our methods still are.  Health professionals have made great strides in the last five hundred years but we still have a long, long way to go.  We're in the age where pharmacy is king.  A standard has been set and a medicine developed to correct every variance from the standard.  I can't decide if we do that because we don't know what caused the variance or because its so much easier than correcting the root cause.

My guess is that there will come a time in the not-to-distant future when every person will be DNA typed at an early age and a life prescription will be written based on it.  My guess is that there will come a time in the not-to-distant future when every person goes every year or so for a full body scan.   My guess is that there will come a time in the not-to-distant future when our computers or smart phones will transmit vital information to a doctor and a prescription will be produced.  My guess is that we should be testing our saliva like we do our blood.
